Washington, D.C. (October 7, 2014) Randy Durband, Chief Executive Officer of the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC), presented at the International Conference on Community Development (ICCDT), PATA Youth Symposium, and PATA Travel Mart held in Phnom Penh, Cambodia from September 16-19, 2014.
The events were organized by the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) and the Ministry of Tourism of Cambodia, in partnership with the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), UNESCO, and other globally recognized organizations.
Mr Durband spoke about community-based tourism and the GSTC Criteria – the result of a worldwide effort to develop a common language about sustainability in tourism – and the related performance indicators providing examples of organizations that successfully implemented these universal standards.
Also presenting was Ms. Chi Lo (GSTC Board Member) at the PATA Travel Mart Talks. Additionally, Dr. Mihee Kang (GSTC Country Representative, South Korea) gave a presentation on «Ecotourism for Nature Conservation and Community Development» at the ICCDT.
