Sustainable Riviera Maya (SRM) and the GSTC hosted a workshop on sustainable destinations and the application of the GSTC Criteria. This workshop explored the intersection of sustainable development and tourism, and provided practical guidance on adopting the Global Criteria in Mexico and throughout Latin America. A panel of high-level public and private sector tourism leaders discussed sustainable tourism strategies in the Riviera Maya region, drawing on the experiences of GSTC Early Adopters in the region. This workshop was structured as a “Train the Trainer” Course. A certificate of attendance was delivered to participants. It was addressed to: Federal and State Secretaries of Tourism; GSTC Early Adopters; public officials; hotel managers and developers; tour operators; tour guide associations; natural and cultural park managers; organizations committed to sustainable tourism.
