From March 13th to 15th, 2024, DASTA sponsored the two-day and a half GSTC Sustainable Tourism Training in Nan province in the Thai language for the DMO in Nan municipality, which consisted of DASTA-Nan, Nan municipality, and some other stakeholders from related organizations.
The training covered the GSTC Destination Criteria and the GSTC Industry Criteria, the global standards for sustainability in travel and tourism. The Criteria are used for education and awareness-raising, policy-making for businesses and government agencies and other organization types, measurement and evaluation, and as a basis for certification.
The training was led by GSTC Trainer Pornpol Noithammaraj, who shared his knowledge and expertise with practical examples and valuable insights.
It aimed to recap/renew the knowledge of sustainable tourism for those who work on the supply side of the destination. The training is part of moving Nan Old City towards the Green Destinations Awards and Certification Program after it achieved «Green Destinations Top 100 Stories» three years in a row.
The GSTC Sustainable Tourism Course provided participants with the essential knowledge and skills to champion sustainable tourism practices. The inclusion of global and local case studies enhanced the value of the training.
Upon successful course completion, participants receive a certificate of completion and become eligible to take an optional official exam to obtain the GSTC Professional Certificate in Sustainable Tourism.
