Ecotourism Kenya is a membership organization started in 1996 with a mandate of promoting 
sustainable tourism through the incorporation and recognition of environmentally and socially sound practices in new and existing tourism enterprises and in the future development of Kenya’s tourism. Ecotourism Kenya achieves this mandate through 5 key focal areas; enterprise development, to integrate communities and community based tourism enterprises to mainstream tourism, standards and best practice; promoting best practices in tourism accommodation facilities through an eco-labeling scheme, awareness and information sharing, research and consultancy as well as the leadership and mentorship program to mentor students in the tourism field.
