Sustainable Goals
In the 2022 Sustainability Development Report, Centara’s commitment to sustainability rests on three key pillars: Environmental Sustainability, Social Sustainability, and Economic Sustainability.
Environmental Sustainability focuses on minimizing environmental impact, enhancing energy efficiency, responsible water and waste management, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and expanding green spaces.
Social Sustainability encompasses upholding human rights, ensuring employee equality, fostering employee growth, creating jobs and equitable income distribution, supporting community and societal development, and making a positive societal impact.
Economic Sustainability involves adhering to sound corporate governance practices, effective risk management, efficient supply-chain management, promoting quality and innovation, and ensuring data protection and cybersecurity.
Centara EarthCare GSTC-Recognized Standard Status
Centara EarthCare already achieved the GSTC-Recognized Standard status in 2021. Centara EarthCare is an internal sustainability standard, used by the group’s hotels and resorts for adherence to sustainable practices based on the GSTC Criteria.
For tracking, measuring and improving in areas of environmental sustainability and social responsibility at property or multi-site level, Centara is using the Greenview Portal, which is a GSTC-Recognized System. The platform allows Centara to track, benchmark, report and improve on various aspects of environmental and social performance.
In 2022, twelve hotels and resorts under Centara Group along with its headquarters passed the assessment and audit of being certified as sustainable hotels by Vireo. A GSTC Accredited Certification Body.
By 2025, Centara aims to have 100% of its properties certified as sustainable by Accredited Certification Bodies, further demonstrating the organization’s commitment to long-term sustainability.
